Norman H. Dupont, age 92, lifetime resident of Waretown, NJ, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Norman was a lifelong Bayman & Fisherman. He enjoyed making his own Fyke fishing nets. He was a wood worker, carving his own duck decoys, a duck hunter, and a boat builder, building his own boats. He liked to garden and had for many years an impressive vegetable garden. He had a great love for the woods and hunting. He also loved early and local history. He knew many of the names of the early settlers and the relatives of those families that settled Waretown, including his own family. He also was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Mariners Lodge #150 in Barnegat NJ. Norman won the Hurley Conklin Award in 1997. This award is presented to people who have lived in the Barnegat Bay tradition. He was a member of the Waretown Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years and served as treasurer at one time. He proudly served his country during the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #232, Barnegat NJ. Along with everything else, he was an accomplished musician and played at Albert Music Hall in Waretown. He played the fiddle, guitar, mandolin and 5 string banjo.

He is predeceased by his parents, Harry E. and Reva L. Dupont (nee Camburn), and his sister, Jacqueline Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Hildegard B. (nee Kersten), and brother, Emile Dupont and his wife Janette. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.

Visiting hours on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, 2pm to 6pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A funeral service on Wednesday, October 7, 11am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Waretown, NJ.

Due to Covid 19 guidelines, the funeral home is operating at restricted capacity. Please note that face masks and social distancing are required at all times for all in attendance. A donation in Norman's memory to the Tuckerton Seaport Museum, Tuckerton, NJ is appreciated.
