Marie Ferrentino (nee Castellano), 87, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in Edison, prior to Barnegat where she resided since 1979.
Prior to her retirement, she was the Laboratory Coordinator at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, NJ. Marie loved her work and the years she spent at SOCH. During her time there, she formed many friendships that she maintained throughout the years and her coworkers still playfully refer to her as “the legend”. Marie “Zsa” lived a life full of love and laughter and always shared a heart full of grace and kindness. Amongst many things, Marie will be best remembered for always seeing the best in everyone. She was known for her favorite pastimes of reading, watching the soaps, playing games on her Kindle, going to the casino, and doing the daily crossword. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her beloved family, who all held a special place in her heart. Marie was considered the Matriarch of the family and loved being referred to as one of “the regulars” between family members. When her daughter Lucy met Todd 10 years ago, she welcomed Quinton and Michael Hambly into her life. Their relationship was that of grandmother and grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her daughter Lucy Hambly (Todd), Barnegat, NJ, and her adored and treasured grandson Bill Gross (Kasey Daptula), Maple Shade, NJ. She is also survived by her devoted sister Etta Guth, Liverpool, NY, her sister in law Adele Castellano, Clark, NJ, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Gino Ferrentino, her parents Pat and Minnie (nee Nappi) Castellano, her sister Yolanda DeNuzzo and her brother Joe Castellano.
Marie now walks on to be with her cherished family, friends and God. A celebration of life will take place at a later time.
