Leroy Barker

Le Roy “Ernie” Ernest Barker, age 87, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2023 surrounded by the love of family at his daughter’s home in Pennsylvania.

Born in North Brunswick, NJ, he lived in East Brunswick Township, and was a long-time resident of Barnegat, NJ prior to moving to Hobe Sound, FL. He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean war. During his service, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he worked as a draftsman. Prior to retirement, he served as a police officer in Panama City, and was the owner/operator of L.E. Barker, a tile and marble contractor business in Barnegat, NJ. Ernie was a member of Bayside Chapel, Barnegat, the VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. His favorite hobbies were fishing and golf, two loves passed down to his children.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carole L. Barker in 2006, his parents, Julia & Harry Randolph, his brother, Bill Randolph, his son, William Ernest Barker, his granddaughter, Alicia Ann Marie Barker, and his great grandson, Henry Luke Rawlins.

Ernie is survived by his 10 children; Julie Fiske & her husband Jim, Bill Barker & his wife Blake, Randy Barker & his wife Darlene, Rick Barker & his wife Alicia, Sarah Rawlins & her husband Pete, Molly Barker, Dale Barker & his wife Michelle, Bryan Barker & his wife Cindy, Terri Stefano & her husband Mickey, Tim Barker & his wife Nicole, and his sister, Sophie Grossweiler. He is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, and 23 Great Grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 9am until his funeral service, 10:45am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
