William C. Smith, 71, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018.

William (Bill) was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 24, 1946. He later moved to Manahawkin, NJ where he attended Southern Reginal High School.

Bill was married to Margaret T. Kelly of Clifton Heights, PA on August 1, 1977; they were married 40 years.

Bill worked in maintenance at Shoprite for over 20 years. He was also retired Amy as a combat engineer and enlisted for 23 years and served 3 tours in Viet Nam.

He enjoyed Collecting model trains and woodworking. He also enjoyed art and sign painting.  He was a member of the DAV, VVA, and the Purple Heart.

William is survived by his wife Margaret, and their children Lewis and his wife Lynn Marie, Marjorie and her husband Andrew Blayer, and William John. They have 12 grandchildren; David, Lindsey, Andrew, Chandler, Xavier, Zachary, Liam, Allie, Sophia, Connor and Katelynn and one great-grandchild Carter. And MANY nieces and nephews.

William is preceded in death by His parents, his daughter Janine, and his 2 grandsons Joshua and Noah.

The family of William C. Smith wishes to thank Southern Ocean Medical Center and all the nursing staff, Meridian at Home, Genius Rehabilitation, and Barnegat Nursing Center for all their help in his care over the years.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, from 7pm to 9pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
