Walter G. Whimpenny

Walter George Whimpenny, age 78, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. 

Born November 3, 1944 in Newark, NJ, he lived in Colonia NJ prior to Manahawkin where he resided full-time since 2005. Walter received his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Kearny School District, Kearny, NJ for 40 years as a Math Teacher at Kearny High School. Walter was a member of and past Master Mason of the Corner Stone Tyrian Lodge No. 229 in Linden NJ, the Lafayette Lodge No. 27 in Rahway, NJ, past Master Mason at the Britannia Lodge No. 1166 in New York, and the Royal Arch in New Jersey. He was a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, Rahway, NJ where he was a choir member, Senior Warden, Eucharistic Minister, lay reader and Youth Group leader. He also served as a Cub Scout Master.

Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm, with funeral services beginning 7:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Cremation will be private.
