Thomas Barajas

Thomas E. Barajas, 68, of Manahawkin, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Southern Ocean Medical Center after a long illness.  Born in Newark, NJ, as second son to Irene (nee) Kaucky and Bernard Barajas, he resided there until moving to Fords, NJ in 1955.

Thomas Barajas, retired from the Woodbridge Police Department after 34 years of service, leaving as lieutenant of the Criminal Investigation Division in 2004.  During his retirement he could be found gardening, swimming, and mostly playing with his 7 grandchildren.  He was well-known, widely respected and very loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  There was never a time when he would not offer help; He can be defined in one word:  SELFLESS

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (nee) Miller; his daughters, Denise Barajas Dillon  and her husband Michael of Woodbridge, CT; Kimberley Moore-Anstett and her husband Jesse of Manahawkin; Danielle Barajas White of New Orleans LA; and seven grandchildren, Taylor and Avery of Woodbridge, CT; Payton, Delaney and Griffin of Manahawkin, NJ; Lily and Miles of New Orleans, LA.  He is also survived by his brothers, Robert of Iselin, NJ, William of Colonia, NJ, Daniel of Colonia, NJ, Kenneth of Watertown, NY, and his sisters Carol Skoski of Courtland Manor, NY, and Kathleen O’Connor of Colonia, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 573 Mill Creek Rd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050, on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 3-5 PM. Final disposition is private.
