Robert Rafferty

Robert A. "Mike" Rafferty, 85, of Manahawkin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at home. He was born in Weehawkin, NJ and lived in Cliffside Park, NJ prior to Manahawkin where he lived for the last 29 years.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as police officer for the Cliffside Park Police Department where he achieved the rank of Sergeant until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the NJ Patrolman’s Benevolent Association, Cliffside Park Local 96. He was a good cop and will truly be missed by all his family and friends

Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife Valerie Theis Rafferty, his parents Robert A. and Mary Olsen Rafferty, and his sisters Eleanor Wilson and Dolores Davino.

He is survived by his three sons; Robert Rafferty (Amy), Michael Rafferty (Kathy), and Timothy Rafferty (Julie), his three daughters; Mary Freeth (Ed Corey), Patricia Rafferty and Kathleen Catone (John), his sister Marilyn Timony, his grandchildren Tim Jr. (Jessica), Christopher, Donald, John, Sean, Rachel, and Julia and his great granddaughter Brielle.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm and Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, 11am at St. Mary’s Church, W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Cremation will be private.
