Nicoll Bunnell

Nicoll (Nic) Van Ryper Bunnell, age 82, of Barnegat, NJ passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Born February 25, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ, Nic settled in Westwood, NJ where he raised his daughters, Nicole and Michelle.  For the last 3 years he relocated to Barnegat, NJ near the shore where he enjoyed spending his time and close to his passion for sailing. Nic was a graduate of Newark Academy, Livingston, NJ and the American Academy McAllister Institute school of funeral service, New York, NY. He was a Funeral Director at his family’s historic Bunnell Funeral Home in Jersey City, NJ. He also worked as a salesman for Oberg and Lindquist in Westwood, NJ. Nic served as president of the Bergen County Funeral Directors Association in 1974 and as a member of the Westwood Kiwanis Club.

Nic is predeceased by his parents, Milton Joseph and Dorothy Louise (Nicoll) Bunnell.

He is survived by his sister Dawn (Bunnell) Sibley, two daughters; Nicole Bunnell Gibson and her husband James, Michelle Bunnell Gratz and her husband Ernest and his five grandchildren, Kyle Gibson, Jason Gibson, Madalyn Gibson, Rebecca Gratz, and Christopher Gratz.

Visiting hours will be Monday, July 11 from 5pm to 7pm with a service at 6:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Private interment will take place at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton, NJ.
