Mary “Marylin” Reed, age 92, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin.
She was born in Jersey City, NJ, where she lived for 61 years. She then moved to her shore dream house in Beach Haven West, NJ where she resided for the last 31 years.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Circuit Layout Assigner for NJ Bell in Newark NJ. Mary has always been an avid volunteer and an involved member of the Catholic Church. Early in her life, Mary volunteered at St. Ann’s Home for the Aged and Our Lady of Mercy School and Church, Jersey City, NJ. She volunteered at SOCH of Manahawkin and was an active member in the Stafford Library. Mary was a part of the “Friends of the Stafford Library” and she helped at book drives and organized their cake sales. She loved being a member of the St. Mary’s Church in Manahawkin, NJ. She enjoyed going to church on Sundays and even taught CCD classes. She loved spending time with her family, playing dominoes, living on the water, taking boat rides, and visits to Wawa for an afternoon coffee and a sweet treat!
Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, John V. Reed, and her two sisters, Florence Zielinski and Imelda Bishop.
She is survived by her two sons, John S. Reed (Joe Laido) and Kenneth Reed (Elaine Hurley), her daughter, Rosemary Buehler (Jack), former daughter-in-law Mary E. Reed, her five grandchildren; Lisa Savianeso (Ryan), Brandon Buehler (Chyanne), Kristina Reed, Kenneth P. Reed, Aiden Reed, and her four great grandchildren; Bryce, Brynley, Brayden and Kaylee.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2pm to 5pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Rd. Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 23, 2024, 11:00am at St. Mary of the Pines Church, Manahawkin, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin.
