Marie Stanish

Marie D. Stanish, 94, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Sunday September 10, 2017.

Born in Yugoslavia, Marie emigrated to the US with her first husband Ted Waskiewicz in 1948. Marie quickly taught herself the English language and was excited to begin her new life in the United States. Marie became a naturalized US citizen in March,1952. Marie moved to Manahawkin in December of 1973 with her second husband, Stephen Stanish.  Marie was a very nurturing and caring person, always ready to lend a hand to her family, friends and even strangers throughout her life. Many of those “strangers” became lifelong cherished friends.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Stanish in April 1979, and more recently her niece Paula (Wenderoth) Huettig and nephew Joseph Waskiewicz.

She is survived by her niece, Patricia Foley of North Carolina, nephew Ted Baird of Washington, DC., and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 21st, at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 367 US Rt. 9, Waretown, NJ 08758.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory are suggested to Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
