Born in Newark, NJ in 1931, Lou lived in Union before retiring to Manahawkin and then Greenbriar in Waretown. Most recently, he lived with his daughter Lori in Manalapan.

He worked as a Compositor at the Newark Evening News and later as a Supervisor at the Star Ledger until his retirement in 1996.
Lou loved all sports but was especially fond of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Giants. He later became a NY Yankees fan in support of his two sons‐in‐law. He enjoyed bowling and bocce and was a member of the Manahawkin Elks, where he frequently helped with the bingo games. He also loved a big bowl of macaroni on Sunday (or any day of the week).

He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Fannie (Pellegrino) Tunnera; his wife of 52 years, Lois (Rabasca) Tunnera; his brother‐in‐law Bob Schumacher and his brother Bob Tunnera.
