Josephine Maccia

Josephine Maccia ( nee Albanese ) 94, of Beach Haven West in Manahawkin passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 4, 2018 with her family at her side.  She is predeceased by her loving husband Alexander, her parents Joseph and Lena Albanese and her five brothers and two sisters.

Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in Union, NJ prior to Manahawkin where she resided for the last 31 years.  An active member and President of the Manahawkin Social Club she organized trips, arranged luncheons and breakfasts for thirty years.

Josephine was very proud of her children and is survived by her five sons, Dr. Clement (Barbara), Joseph (Kathryn), Dr. John (Michelle), Richard (Lisa), and Alexander Jr. (Debbie), and her three daughters Lillian Spatola (Thomas), Gail Scriffiano (Robert), and Barbara Wasacz (Paul).  She is also survived by a brother Gerald Albanese, (Terry) and brother-in-law Carmine Laurino, (Angelina).  In addition, she is survived by 18 grandchildren Matthew Maccia (Lynn), Janine Cannon (Michael), Michael Maccia, Jennifer Korab (Kyle), Jamie Wanko (Jason), Jonathan Maccia (fiancée Danielle), Danielle Grant (Alex), Alexandria Garruto (Louis), Jeffrey Maccia (fiancée Evelina), Erica Visnic (Steve), Elise Iovine (Joseph), Jaclyn Horbacz (Edward), Alexander Scriffiano (Shawn), Michael Maccia (Lauren), Brittany Maccia, Robert Scriffiano (Alexandra), Alyssa Belli, Joseph Scriffiano (fiancée Melanie).  In addition, she is survived by 27  great grandchildren.

An outstanding cook and wonderful baker she kept her family well fed and always returning for those wonderful cookies and cakes. The entire family extends a heartfelt thank you to our Mom's Caretaker Nana for the excellent care and kindness she provided.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Maxwell – Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ, 08050.  A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd, Brand Beach NJ 08087.  Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange, NJ.
