Joseph Rizzo

Joseph C. Rizzo, age 90, of Manahawkin, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, he lived there and then Jim Thorpe, PA prior to Manahawkin where he resided for the last 16 plus years. Prior to his retirement, Joe was a police officer for the New York City Housing Authority. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW, Post #248, Staten Island. He was passionate about political discussions. He was an avid NY Yankee fan, enjoyed cooking, baking, Frank Sinatra and loved to sing. Above all, he was selflessly devoted to his family.

He is predeceased by his brothers; Sebastian & Fili and his sisters Pauline & Angelina “Nina”.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Blanche (nee Rivera), his son Steven and his wife Ivy, his daughter Dianna Trunzo and her husband Scott, his five grandchildren; Victoria, Matthew, Rachel, Jordan and Christopher. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 20, 2017, 11:30am at St. Mary of the Pines Church, Bishop Way, Manahawkin. Cremation will be held privately.
