Harry Norton Silverman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on June 30, 1937, Harry grew up in Spring Valley and Pearl River, New York, where he developed a love of sports, lasting friendships, and a tireless work ethic that carried him throughout his life.
As a young man, Harry started a landscaping business before establishing H.N. Silverman Excavating Inc., which he later moved to Pomona, NY. Known for his dedication and integrity, Harry built a company that reflected both his strong character and his commitment to those he served.
Harry married the love of his life, Anne Bohnel, and together they purchased their first home on Railroad Avenue in Pearl River, NY, where they began raising their family. Later, in retirement, Harry and Anne settled into their summer home at Ship Bottom, NJ. There, Harry quickly became known as the unofficial “Mayor of 20th Street.” From his driveway perch, he warmly welcomed beachgoers, greeted new neighbors, and handed out Tootsie Pops to delighted children. His generosity and friendliness made him a beloved figure in the community.
For the past 20 years, Harry and Anne also spent winters on the island of St. Croix, where they built friendships and memories surrounded by the warmth of the Caribbean.
Above all, Harry loved his family. Harry is predeceased by his parents, Morris and Stella (Benich) Silverman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Anne G. (Bohnel) Silverman, his son Michael Allan Silverman, and his daughters Jill Bohnel Musgnug and Wendy Anne Caccioppoli. He leaves behind a proud legacy through his 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Harry’s life was defined by love—for his family, his friends, and every person he had the privilege of meeting. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.
