Giovanna Menucci

Giovanna Menucci (Carnemolla), 92, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2025.

Giovanna was born on November 8th, 1932, in Marina Di Ragusa, Italy, to Joseph and Nellie Carnemolla. She worked as a seamstress for many years in factories in Paterson, NJ, a proud member of the ILGWU, or International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Pines. Giovanna enjoyed cooking, crocheting, long walks, swimming, and watching soccer on the television.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nellie Carnemolla, her husband, Frank Menucci, her daughter, Emanuella, her son-in-law, Thomas Aboyoun, her sister and brother-in-law, Nenetta and William Carnemolla, and her brother, John Carnemolla.

She leaves behind her children, Marinella DiMatteo (George) and Carmelo Menucci (Connie), and her four grandchildren, Marcella Aboyoun, Dante Aboyoun, Frank Menucci (Danielle), and Marcello Menucci, as well as many nieces and nephews. Giovanna was “Nonna” to all!

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian burial will follow 11:00am at St. Mary's Church, 747 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08005. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 281 Beach view Ave., Manahawkin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org in memory of Giovanna’s late husband, Frank Menucci, who died of liver cancer.
