George F. Swithers, age 100, of the Parkertown section of Little Egg Harbor, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025.
Born May 16, 1925 in Nanticoke, PA., he lived in Fogelsville, PA. prior to Parkertown where he resided since 2000. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he earned various ribbons. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Stroh's Brewing Company, Allentown, PA as a Union Brewer. George loved watching boxing, gardening and landscaping, and being the ultimate handyman. But above all he loved everyone especially his family.
He is predeceased by his wife Theresa Meyer Swithers, his son William Hasenstad, and his two brothers, Charles & Robert Swithers.
George is survived by his daughter Barbara Chavanne, his nephew Jay Swithers, his six grandchildren; Thomas Conroy, Karen Brady, Lisa Jedic, Barbara Chavanne, Kristin Boyce & Drew Hasenstad, his fourteen great grandchildren, his four great-great grandchildren, his two great nephews and his two great nieces.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, LLC, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow, 1:00pm at St. Mary Of The Pines Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, 283 Beachview Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 immediately following mass.
