George R. DiMatteo

George R. DiMatteo, age 59, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at home.

Born July 14, 1966, in Paterson, NJ, he most recently resided in Manahawkin, NJ. George worked for PSE&G as a supervisor for 36 years before retiring. After retirement, he kept active working as a security officer for Ocean County College and Southern Ocean Medical Center. George loved visiting Murrells Inlet, SC. He also enjoyed playing golf, NASCAR, cooking for his family and friends, listening to live music, attending community theater shows and fixing cars. He was always there to help anyone in need. He would give you "the shirt off his back". He was affectionately known as the mayor and dad to all, especially the students at Ocean County College. He was a “tell it like it is" guy and very protective of his family. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Manahawkin and served as a volunteer firefighter in Totowa, NJ while he was a resident.

George is predeceased by his parents, Idario and Margarita (Lavorgnia) DiMatteo.

He is survived by his wife, Marinella M. (Menucci) DiMatteo, his daughters; Erica DiMatteo & her husband Derek and Marcella Aboyoun & her husband Domenic, his sons; Christopher DiMatteo & his wife Yasmin, Michael DiMatteo and Dante Aboyoun, his brothers; Luca DiMatteo & his wife Laura and Steven DiMatteo & his wife Jean. He also survived by his beautiful granddaughter, Aurora DiMatteo, and his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles.

A memorial Mass be celebrated 10:30am on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at St. James Church, 32 St. James Place, Totowa, NJ. Additionally, a celebration of George’s life will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, 2pm at the Stafford Township Emergency Medical Services Building, 365 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin, NJ.
