Ellen Jane DiGiacomo

Ellen Jane DiGiacomo (nee Cook), 72, of Manahawkin, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, with her family by her side.

Born in Philadelphia to Albert and Jane Cook, she grew up in Pennsauken, New Jersey with her brothers Chuck and Bob. She attended Elizabethtown College earning a bachelor’s degree in education, and moved to Beach Haven, NJ where she managed her family’s auto repair and auto parts business for the past 50 years. She was extremely knowledgeable about vehicles and auto parts, often to the amazement of her customers, who she had no problem telling to take a hike if they gave her a hard time.

Ellen enjoyed listening to Motown, watching the birds that would visit her backyard, bicker with her cat, and visit her family cottage at Glen Lake, Michigan. Most importantly to her though was caring for and spending time with her family, her daughter Tina, Son-in-law Mike, and her Granddaughter Winnie, (who she adored), as well as her cousins, nieces and their children.

She fought an arduous battle against Leukemia for the past 17 years, but did it with inspiring fortitude, while maintaining an infectious sense of humor.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 12pm to 2pm at The Sea Shell Resort & Beach Club, 10 S. Atlantic Avenue, Beach Haven NJ 08008. The family welcomes all to celebrate Ellen's life. Children are more than welcome to attend.
