Edward A. Conlon III, age 65, of Plymouth, Vermont, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Born and raised in Kearny, NJ, Ed later lived in the Beach Haven West section of Manahawkin before venturing north. After leaving New Jersey, he spent 10 memorable years on Nantucket, where he met his future wife. Together, they moved to Vermont, where they built a life and raised their beloved son, Sean—Ed’s pride and joy. A self-employed contractor and master carpenter, Ed was a gifted and passionate woodworker who took immense pride in his craft. He worked alongside Sean, passing down his skills and sharing the joy of building something with his hands.
Ed had a love for the outdoors and a profound appreciation for nature and wildlife. In his earlier years, Ed loved to surf and ski, and he remained active through golfing and hiking. He was a devotee of the Grateful Dead and had a lifelong passion for history, with a remarkable depth of knowledge.
Ed’s booming, contagious laugh could light up any room and bring a smile to anyone’s face. He was a proud member of the Manahawkin Elks and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Beach Haven Lodge. His warmth, humor, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his father, Edward A. Conlon Jr.; his sister, Sharon Baguchinsky; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
Ed is survived by his son, Sean Conlon, and Sean’s girlfriend, Lauren; his mother, Vera A. (Revill) Conlon; his sisters, Karen Evilsizor and her husband Jerry, and Vera Allen and her husband Tom; his brothers, William Conlon and Thomas Conlon; his life partner, Patricia Springstead and her children; his former wife, Debra Staniscia; many loving nieces and nephews, and so many friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of his blessing service at 12:30 PM at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Vermont at a future date.
