Dr. Leonardo llagan passed away peacefully at home in Manahawkin, New Jersey on December 22, 2023 at the age of 94 following a long illness.

Dr. Leonardo Ilagan was born on July 25th, 1929 in Alitagtag, Batangas in the Philippines. He was the first born of his parents’, Raymundo Calingasan Ilagan and Maria Trinidad Medrano Alisuag Ilagan, eight children.  After graduating from University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, with a medical doctorate, he came to America in 1957 where he did his medical internship in Morristown, New Jersey. He completed his residency in anesthesia at Hahneman University Hospital, followed by his fellowship in anesthesia. He became a United States citizen on February 18th, 1972.

Ding Ilagan met the love of his life, Sally Lou Williams in 1958 in the hospital where she worked as an operating room nurse and he was an anesthesiologist. They were married for 64 years and had three children (Gregg, Lee Marie, and Marc), six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

 Dr. Leonardo Ilagan was truly loved by his patients, nurses, and fellow physicians at all the hospitals he served as an anesthesiologist which included Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Cooper Hospital, Burlington County Memorial Hospital and Southern Ocean County Hospital. He retired from medicine in 1995.

 He is predeceased by his parents Raymundo Calingasan Ilagan and Maria Trinidad Medrano Alisuag Ilagan, and his siblings, Emil Ilagan, Primitivo, Leonitus, Roberto, Cesar, and Beth Zapanta.

 He is survived by his wife Sally Lou Ilagan, and their three children: Gregg Ilagan (and his wife Jill Ilagan), Lee Marie Ilagan, and Marc Ilagan (and his wife Evelyn Ilagan). He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Alura Read and her husband Jacob and their son Jacob Jr, Carissa Saad, Brandon and Kennedy Ilagan, Marcus and Leonardo (Leo) Ilagan. He is also survived by his one remaining brother Pablo.

Ding was adored by his family, friends and patients. He was an avid golfer well into his 80s. He also enjoyed indoor gardening, billiards, and tennis.
