DOROTHY "MISS DOT" KARP
Age: 93 - MANAHAWKIN

Dorothy E. Karp, 93, of Manahawkin passed away on Sunday, June 24, peacefully and comfortably at
home in the Beach Haven West section of Manahawkin.

Originally from Philadelphia, Pa, she married the love of her life, raised three children and
settled there until 1972 when they ultimately moved to their summer home here
in Manahawkin.

She and our father were prominent members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Brant Beach,
where they sang in the choir, and played Santa and Mrs. Claus at Christmas time.

She was also a proponent in the founding of St Francis Daycare Center, initially working as
a babysitter for mothers who came to the exercise classes.   It eventually evolved into the daycare
center and everybody knew her, then and to this day as "Miss Dot". She was there for 25 years.

Predeceased by her husband, Ralph, of 62 years, she is survived by her younger brother, Frederick
Lewis, of Pennsylvania, her daughters, Kris Width and Judy (and Dan) Smith, her son, Ralph, Jr
(and Monica) Karp, all of Manahawkin; her eight grandchildren, Michele (and Pat) Shaffery,
Jenny Width (and Sahil Singh), Lara Cordoba,Sarah (and Heather) Width-Sysol, Erin (and Mike)Thoma,
Casey (and Lauren) Smith, Corey Karp(and Daiana Fevetto) and Nick Karp and her eight great-grandchildren
Joseph Width, Michael Width, Nathan Cordoba, Lily Width, Braeden Shaffery, Jackson Width-Sysol,
Collin Thoma and Cora Thoma, and a ninth, baby Smith, on his way.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 27, 6pm to 8pm. AMass will be celebrated on Thursday, 11am at
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach, followed by interment at St Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy would love it if donations were made to the Alzheimer's Association,
Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave. Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834, a charity that was near and dear to her heart.
