Donald Lewis Baker, 81 of Waretown passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016.  Born in Pittston, PA, he lived in Hillside and Bayville prior to Waretown where he resided for 35 years.  He was a self-employed truck driver before his retirement. He also was a former police officer, Hillside, NJ, owned a transmission shop with his best friend Harry and managed Southwinds Marina. Donald also proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. He was a founding member of Bayside Chapel, Barnegat were he led the Men’s Bible Study group as well as mentoring men of Celebrate Recovery. In the 1950’s he raced motorcycles and appeared in Life Magazine for his racing accomplishments. He was sponsored by BSA and rode a British motorcycle.

Donald is predeceased by his parents Louis and Mary Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Ann Baker (nee Betzel), his three daughters; Deborah Gray and her husband Frederick, Susanne Collins and her husband Alan, and Kimmberly Baker and her husband Curtis, his ten grandchildren; Connie, Bethanne, Paul, Austin, Katelynn, Luke, Emily, Rebekah, Trevor and Matthew as well as his six great grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, 9:30am until his Memorial Service, beginning 10:30am, at Bayside Chapel, Barnegat, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his name to Americas Keswick Colony, 601 County Rd 530, Whiting, NJ 08759.
