Mildred Karlik

Mildred Karlik, age 87, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Deborah Heart And Lung Center of Browns Mills, NJ.  

Born April 25, 1936 in Newark, NJ, she lived in Newark, NJ then Hillside, NJ where she resided prior to Manahawkin where she lived for the last 3 years. Mildred worked as an elected Township Clerk, Township of Hillside where she served one term. She was a member of the Italian American Civic Association of Hillside, a 14 year/seven-time incumbent elected member of the Hillside Board of Education during which she also served as president, the Republican Committee serving at the local, state and national levels, and a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine's Church, Hillside. Mildred had a giving heart who always put the needs of others before herself. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Mildred is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Carmella Millie Scuorzo Cicalese, her husband, Jerry Karlik, her daughter Lisa, her brother, Anthony Cicalese, and her grandchildren, Brendon & Louis.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Karlik, her son, Steven G. Karlik and his wife Michelle, her two sisters, Patricia David and Toni Mortellito, her grandchildren; Holly, Meghan, Eric & Grace, her great grandchildren, Michael & Louie and her many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow, 12:00 pm, at St. Mary Of The Pines Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Cremation will be private.
