Bertha Bates

Bertha M. Bates (nee Green), age 87 of Cedar Run, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2017.

Born in Trenton, NJ, she lived in Manahawkin for many years prior to Cedar Run where she resided since 1980. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for the Stafford Township MUA as well as the Township Clerk.  She was a member of the Manahawkin Methodist Church, Manahawkin for 70 plus years.

Bertha is predeceased by her parents Leonard E. and Mae H. (Carr) Green, her brother Donald Green and her grandson James L. Bates III.

She is survived by her daughter Sandi Brocklebank of Mayetta, her son Robert Bates Sr. of West Creek, her two brothers; Jacob Green and his wife Kaye, and Richard Green and his wife Arlene, her sister Ethel Exel, her sister-in-law Myrtle Green, her 2 grandchildren; Robert Bates Jr. and his wife Katie, and Matthew Bates, as well as her 2 great grandchildren; Robert III “Trey” and Tanner Bates. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and her special friend Dottie Collins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 11am to 12pm at Manahawkin Methodist Church, 116 Stafford Ave, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
