Angela Joan Vicaro

Angela J Vicaro October 24, 1943 -October 17, 2024 

Angela (Russo) Vicaro or “Joanie” as she was known to her family was born in Newark NJ and lived in Belleville and Nutley, NJ with her husband, Demetrio Vicaro a Navy World War II Veteran, who predeceased her after 36 years of marriage. Angela relocated to Manahawkin, NJ after his death. She is also predeceased by her parents Frank Russo Sr., her mother, Marie (Petrello) Russo, and her brothers, Frank Russo Jr. and Robert Russo. 

Angela worked at Prudential in Newark NJ as an Office Manager for many years, and later as a home aid, and at CVS. Angela loved getting up early and going out each day. Since she never learned to drive, she diligently figured out how to use the bus to her advantage—shopping, getting her hair and nails done, meeting friends for coffee —because it was important to “look good” as she would say and keep moving. She also loved playing bingo, Rummikub and cards in the social room with the ladies. 

She loved all her family spending time together with them as often as she could but especially missing those who didn’t live close by. Although outwardly appearing quiet and shy, she had the biggest heart that wasn’t always recognized, but always there. 

She is survived by her sister Judy Rizzuto (Benny) and Susan Marrone (Stephen), her many nephews and nieces —Eugene Rizzuto (Donna), Lucretia Shafer (Matt), Judy Zelinski (Anthony), April Russo, Paris Russo, Chris Marrone (Michelle), Gina Terefenko (Andy) her many great nephews and great nieces—Benny, Jenna, Marisa, Christian, Dana, Patrick, Anthony, Gianna, Milania and Rocco, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday October 27, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm with a blessing service, 3:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin NJ 08050. Additional visiting will be Monday, October 28, 2024 from 9:30am to 10am. Interment will follow, 11:30am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
